This is a quick list of programs and other stuff that is very usable for game programming which is offered up free of charge and free of royalties.
If you know a tool or other thing that is handy for game programmers, please don't hesitate to add it to this list. Nothing it hosted here, we only link to stuff.
Please note that some programs may be marked as 'Strong Copyleft'. This means that the license of that tool or product may require you to make the game you create free or to copy the license of the product you chose. The GPL is the most famous example of that. So I really recommend to check the licenses before using the stuff I link to.

SoX

SoXSox is a cross-platform command-line utility (Windows, Mac and Linux are all supported), to convert sound files. It can also be used to put several effects on files. Please note only use this program when you feel comfortable with the Unix Shell (Linux/Mac) or the Command prompt (Windows). If you prefer to use the mouse for everything then this is not the tool for you. <p> Mac users who have homebrew installed can easily install this program with the command: brew install sox --with-lame --with-flac --with-libvorbis

This is a very viral license. Using the source of this project in your product will require you to license it into the GPL too. == if you have a GPL music program, the music you create with it does not require such license. Just the source :)
