Hi there;
This is a quick list of programs and other stuff that is very usable for game programming which is offered up free of charge and free of royalties.
If you know a tool or other thing that is handy for game programmers, please don't hesitate to add it to this list. Nothing it hosted here, we only link to stuff.
Please note that some programs may be marked as 'Strong Copyleft'. This means that the license of that tool or product may require you to make the game you create free or to copy the license of the product you chose. The GPL is the most famous example of that. So I really recommend to check the licenses before using the stuff I link to.
Seashore (for MacOS X)

Seashore is an open source image editor for Mac OS X\'s Cocoa framework. It features gradients, textures and anti-aliasing for both text and brush strokes. It supports multiple layers and alpha channel editing. It is based around the GIMP\'s technology and uses the same native file format.
However, unlike the GIMP, Seashore aims to serve the basic image editing needs of most computer users, not to provide a replacement for professional image editing products. Also, unlike GIMP, Seashore has an all-new Cocoa UI that will fit right in on Mac OS X.
Seashore was created by Mark Pazolli who led the project until the end of 2009.
Tricky Staff MemberPosted: Nov 16th 2017 | Robert Engels seems to have forked SeaShore trying to get it to work in Sierra.
You can go to this github repository and download it from the releases tab. |
Tricky Staff MemberPosted: Jul 4th 2017 | IMPORTANT NOTICE
SeaShore has been discontinued in its development for years already, however since it still worked all was fine. With the update to Sierra, it keeps crashing, and though this has been reported, due to the current status of SeaShore it’s unlikely we’ll see this fixed. If a fix arrives before Christmas I’ll remove this message and pretent this issue never happened. If this issue is not fixed by then, I’ll have to take it off this site, which is a pity for such a great image editor for Mac. |
Tricky Staff MemberPosted: Jun 13th 2013 | This program has more than Paint, but still it has some simplicity. When you don’t need to professionality of stuff like Photoshop, this program is a must-have for you (when you are a Mac User). |
